Scholars Award: This is a scholarship award from the Bill &
Melinda Gates Foundation that assists traditionally underrepresented

and public health. The amount of award varies depending upon the
candidate’s financial need, tuition costs, living expenses, book fees,
and other factors. The requirements for candidacy are: - Nominated by a teacher

Islander ethnic groups - US citizen or permanent
legal resident - Cumulative GPA of
3.3 on a 4.00 scale (unweighted) at time of nomination - Students must begin

as full-time, degree seeking freshmen - Have worked extensively
in community service, extracurricular or other activities and demonstrated

Scholarship Award: This award offered through the Harry S. Truman
Scholarship Foundation focuses on providing full financial funding to
candidates who are seeking to attend graduate school in public service
areas. The goal is to help undergraduates, who are dedicated to
creating change in our society, continue onto graduate study, fellowship
opportunities, and leadership seminars. The award is $30,000 annually.
The requirements for the scholarship are: - At the time of application,
a full-time student pursuing a bachelor’s degree with junior-level
academic standing - Or, have senior-level
standing in the third year of college enrollment - Or, are a senior
in college and a resident of Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, or a Pacific
Island. - Committed to a career
in public service - Is in the upper
25th percentile of his or her class - US citizen or US
national from American Samoa or the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana
